Setting small, reachable weight loss goals

Weight loss goals have been broken in the past and you have always wondered why. You thought they seemed like good goals to have for losing weight, but in reality, they weren’t very realistic. Have you ever wondered how to make goals that you can reach? How do you set realistic goals?

We have all made promises to ourselves to start exercising, start eating healthier, or even cleaning the house tomorrow. Achieving your goals is so much easier if you have the knowledge and know-how to complete those tasks.

So how do you really set good goals for yourself – the ones that are attainable? Keep it simple! Be specific with what your goals are! Share your goals with your family and friends! Most importantly, choose significant goals that really mean something to you.

You are probably thinking that you can’t have that piece of cake because once you do, you are done in for, and that it will ruin everything you have worked for, or everything that you have just begun. That isn’t further from the truth. You don’t have to deprive yourself to reach your goals.

A really great way to set one weight loss goal is to tell yourself that you are going to lose the weight slowly. Let’s say that you need to lose a fifty pounds. Fifty pounds sounds like a lot of weight and looking at that figure can increase your anxiety, but say your first goal is to lose the first five pounds of that weight – that is a lot more sensible and easier to accomplish! A realistic goal for you would be to lose one pound to two pounds a week, according to many experts.

You can also set realistic short term goals for your weight loss. Instead of reaching all of those big goals, like the fifty pounds, reach for the five pound goals. You can always keep the long term goals like the fifty pounds back in your mind and think about them and see them off down the road.

When you focus on these long and short term goals, keep the whole weight loss process of changing your lifestyle and your habits in your thoughts. Just changing your diet will not help you lose weight. You will also need to exercise and tone up your muscles so that it will help to continue to maintain and burn the weight. Another thought is to be creative with your weight loss goals.

Make exercising enjoyable and your new diet and eating habits enjoyable as well. Get involved with your family in their every day activities. This will help you become a lot more active, your goals more achievable, it will include your family in your new lifestyle change, and everyone will be happier.

Setting realistic goals for you and your family in order for you to lose your weight will make your weight loss so much more easier. You are a diamond. Start chipping away at that coal and that weight and you will find the beautiful you hiding within.
